I am an audiobook addict. I listen to them when I'm sewing, cleaning house, driving, decorating, whatever, whenever.
I've been reading the Stephanie Plum books by Janet Evanovich. I'm on number eleven. Let me tell you, Stephanie Plum talks about cake. A lot. So I am baking one right now. I was cleaning in the kitchen, putting together the pantry, and somehow I accidentally started baking a cake. Does this happen to you? You're reading something or watching something on TV and it gets to you like this? (Cheetos commercials work on me as well.) Every time Stephanie mentions cake, I feel like I just have to have a piece! When it's done, I'll be sure to tell you how it was. (Cake is inspirational, right??) For a while now I've been dreaming of the idea of having a lovely little round pedestal accent table in my living room. It would be a place where my guests could set their drinks (I think it's very important that everyone have an easy place to set their drink) and its lovely, curvy lines would be a nice little contrast to the mostly clean, somewhat masculine lines of our living room. I haven't yet quite found the place or the table to make my dream come true, and I'll admit that I'm a bit nervous for the actual feasibility of such a lovely little table with two rambunctious dogs always in the living room (there's no point to a nice place to set your drink if some dogs will come along and just knock it off), but I'm working on it. And after seeing some of these tables, I think I will have to work harder on making this table happen! My first love. I think this one was from Ballard a few years ago, but I can't seem to verify that. I had just saved the picture without a source. If you know where it's from for sure, let me know! My reason for posting this morning: Martini side table from West Elm. I just love how they styled it in this room: Another yummy from West Elm. I think I'd prefer it in a fun color, though. What do you think? Too dangerous with the dogs around? Or should I just make it work? :) I am so in love with that Martini side table at the moment...
Super yum! I spotted these curtains today at Anthropologie's website. I love their uniqueness and great, artistic way of showing off lots and lots of patterns and fabrics, and I love how the whole thing is bordered and brought together by the bold stripes down the sides. I wonder what else I could translate this idea to? Wouldn't it be a great way to use up fabric scraps? Pillows? Wall hangings? Dress? Images via Anthropologie
I'm sorry, I just have to post this. It has nothing to do with fashion or design at all...it's just a cute puppy. Too cute a puppy. :) Image via RealSimple.
I'm a bad blogger, but I'm working on it, I really am. I am a sucker for anything dog. DailyDivaDish posted about pooches that make their way into fashion shoots, recently, so I thought, why not post these pics? Here are a couple images from OneKingsLane that I loved, and then a pic from Elle Decor...I loved the room, and it didn't hurt that there was a dog in it! :) Okay, okay...so what if I pay more attention to the dog than the rest of the picture?? I can't help it! I love these patterns and prints...but I really love the pup! Don't I wish my dog lived in this? Instead of his dirty old bed :) I love this large dining room! Too bad my dog (and dining area) are not nearly this photogenic. :)
I'm pretty excited about this! This summer my cousin got married and I was a bridesmaid. Melissa, the bride, did a pretty decent job picking out bridesmaids dresses for us: great color, simple strapless A-line dress...nothing offensive at all! :) Except that sometimes, these solid color dresses just read "bridesmaid." So, I decided to add some embellishments to it, to see if I could make it wearable again. I figured I had nothing to lose...if it didn't turn out well, then it would suffer the fate of all my other bridesmaids dresses and remain in my closet indefinitely. However, I am liking the results! Here is a preliminary picture. If I do wear it this weekend, I'll try to get some good/better pictures of it! Before: After: I'm debating whether I should keep going with the embellisments, or leave it how it is. Any thoughts? I'm loving how it's turning out!!
(Also, let me just say, to all my friend and family brides who might read this: none of you have ever put me in a dress that I didn't like, and I am thankful!!) :) Good morning! Late Thurs night, I came up with this plan to try to re-make a bridesmaids dress into a dress to wear out to a bachelorette party by using some well placed embellishments. Wish me luck! I got some great fabric yesterday and I've already got some great shoes...and if it turns out well, I will definitely post some before and after pictures!
In the meantime, here a a few dresses that I am in love with...I love great details and embellishments. Why do these pleats and and ruffles and gathers affect me so?? I'm swooning!! :) I love the ultra-femininity of all these pieces. Enjoy! Is it Thursday already? My pantry is coming along and I am tired from working on it! In the meantime, here is some yum: I found this image via Natural History...and by it, I found this great blog and Etsy seller, Plum Cushion. What great images! My home and living room aren't this artfully colorful...but now I'm looking around thinking how I can make it so. :) Images via Plum Cushion.
