This is apparently a theme for me. Sometime, I will post the paper flowers that my friend Ashley made for her wedding...along with her awesome dress that I made!! But in the meantime, here are some goldfish cake toppers that I need, and some great paper flower bouquets! I love the texture and the whimsy of these! Available here on Etsy!!
Well, it's been almost a year since Cassie's wedding...Happy Anniversary, Cassie and Justin! Finally, here are some photos of Cassie's wedding dress!! In homage to all the snow we've gotten here in Northwest Indiana, and in the spirit of the season, here are some snowy white holiday decorations, courtesy of Martha Stewart. :) Images via Martha Stewart: Paper Doily Wreath, Twinkling Vases, Stiffened Doilies, Glittered Garland
Speaking of quilts, here are a few I love. Cuddle-able artwork. :) These are from a great quilter with a great eye for color, pattern, and design. Her work is available through her Etsy shop: StarlitNestGifts
Images via StarlitNestGifts Etsy shop and flickr page. I never thought I'd get into quilting or quilts...I think a lot of times we just think of early-American, really "country" patchworked blankets when we think of quilts, but one day I realized that quilts can be a modern mix of colors and patterns, and oh, I realized it was everything I loved in one useful blanket. And being open to that wonderful mix of styles and scraps has even made me appreciate more "traditional" quilts as well. Here's some artwork from 20x200 that I think appeals to me, because it reminds me of quilts. Now by Marian Bantjes. Available here. 7-sided by Joe Kievitt. Available here. crossed by Joe Kievitt. Available here. Sugarcoat by Michelle Hinebrook. Available here. Hmmm, I think I'm reminded of something nice and warm to cuddle up in, on this snowy first day of December.
It's pretty dark and gloomy here in the midwest, so here is some pretty eye candy to brighten the day! (Thank you, Daily Candy!) Winter Flags (East Village, New York) by Youngna Park. Available here. In accordance with my love of things wordy, how about this witty calendar? Available here. And for some local color... Marc Chagall's America Windows at the Art Institute of Chicago. Enjoy!
I've been hard at work on Cassie's wedding dress...and as her wedding is this Saturday, I thought it'd be safe to post some more "in progress" photos, as her future husband will be seeing the finished product in just a few days. There were a few more bodice fittings, but those pictures are pretty boring, so here are some pictures of the lace being appliqued to the bodice. A bodice can be made out of solid lace fabric, but appliqueing the lace on this way hides all the seams and makes for a gorgeous finished look. Just the middle section completed. Placing all the pieces of lace is kind of like putting together a jigsaw puzzle. Carefully sewing each piece of lace to the bodice, careful to avoid all the beads and pearls! The lace on the bodice, nearly complete. One of the final bodice fittings before the skirt was attached and the zipper sewn in. Isn't it gorgeous!? Stay tuned for more on Cassie's wedding dress!
There are a lot of things I like about Halloween: - Fun size Twix - Fun size Skittles - Fun size Kit Kat - Any Candy (this is obviously a big one for me) - Caramel Apples (fruit with candy coating) :) There are also a lot of things I don't like about Halloween: - Cold weather (The addition of a coat or 8 layers of thermal underwear always ruined my costumes as a kid) - General scariness - Scary things - Being scared But these pumpkin pictures from Martha Stewart gave me something new to love about Halloween!! Who can resist cute animals made from pumpkins!!! These are so much more creative than my usual jack-o-lantern with triangle eyes and nose! They're pumpkin artwork! I guess I have something to aspire to next year! Images via Martha Stewart.
Speaking of baking a cake, how cool is this stackable bakeware from Scandinavian designer Christian Bjørn!? I love it! Freezer to oven to table. Sleek, modern, and oh-so-practical! Images via A + R Store
