I'm working on some things to post (befores and afters), but for now, I will just post some inspiration. I just got new kitchen chairs (sooooo happy) and am working on a full-wall, floor to ceiling pantry, so I am in kitchen mode.
Whew. This has been a week! My husband and I are in the midst of home renovations galore, and I do most of the work! :) I'm working on some things to post (befores and afters), but for now, I will just post some inspiration. I just got new kitchen chairs (sooooo happy) and am working on a full-wall, floor to ceiling pantry, so I am in kitchen mode. This is not nearly what my kitchen looks like. I only wish my floors were wood painted turquoise, that my walls were shiny subway tiles, that my appliances were stainless steel, and my kitchen so bright and airy. Aaah, one can dream. Apparently, this will be my goldfish blog. I can't help how much I love them! They can be whimsical or beautiful... ...anyway, here is a whimsical example! I love everything in this artist's shop. Here are a few cuties for you if you love the super cute handmade look, but not the goldfish. :)
A Late Summer Tan treasury for your enjoyment this morning! I love it!! and how a good tan can be just as warm of an autumn color as orange! :) :) :) I had something else to post today, but then I saw these!! Swoon! I am in love!! Remember the glittery, rhinestone, velvet shoe clips of the 80s and 90s? I adored them as a kid...well, here is the updated version! So pretty! And you can have shoes to match every outfit! (As if you don't already) ;) My bit of love for the day: these personalized posey rings. I'm getting one as soon as I think of the perfect thing to say on it. They're stackable, they come in thicker or thinner styles...I just think this artist has completely gotten everything right with her designs. They can be cool or romantic...just about any look or feel that you want! Posy rings (as the British Museum names them) were popular between the 15th and 18th centuries as wedding and engagement rings. They'd have romantic sayings on them or short poems. The British Museum has a pretty extensive collection of them. I saw them there when I was in London and was in love with them from the start. I have several reproduction posy rings, in fact! I was so in love! But I just love these modern versions. Create funny romance (instead of gooey romance), or just funny rings! Or choose a romantic saying that has a special meaning to you and your loved one. I also really like that she made a pair of "42" earrings...the answer to life, the universe, and everything. Maybe that's what I'll put on my posey ring. :) Thanks to jessentials for including my bag in this great treasury! Black, white, and red are just a great combination! :) Well, I've been out of the blogging world for a few days, (I am going to have to set a real routine for myself with this blogging stuff!), but I have a good reason, wedding season! So, I thought I'd post about the current wedding dress I'm making! I wasn't sure about posting throughout the dressmaking process, but I thought it might be interesting for you guys to see the progression of a custom made gown! This is my future cousin, Cassie. She's really petite and she had some great dress ideas in mind, so she asked me to make her dress, rather than trying to buy one off the rack. We started working out ideas about this time last year, and her wedding is in October. I got her into the first muslin mock-up a few weeks ago (we went through a few different styles!) and these pictures are from the first time she saw the lace I chose for her skirt. She's wearing the muslin mock-up with her full petticoat, and we're just holding the lace over it to mimic the skirt. Getting a dress made involves a lot of using-your-imagination during the creation process. :) The dress will be satin, with lace over the bodice and then this great bordered lace on the skirt. She chose ivory to match with her great-grandmother's pearls. She's the only girl on her dad's side of the family, so those pearls are really special to her! (Of course, I don't have the pearls pictured! Sorry!) Now that we have the design and fit somewhat finalized, (I say somewhat, because the beauty of making a custom dress is that it can be tweaked all along the way), I will transfer the fit adjustments to the pattern I made, then I can begin to work on cutting and assembling the dress out of the final satin fabric. I will keep you posted!! (I think she looks pretty happy!) How cute and what a perfect follow up to my last post!! I truly love goldfish! I had them in the centerpieces at my wedding! And here is a whole Etsy treasury dedicated to them! What fun! I truly love each and every one of these items!! Maybe I should start designing goldfish-related things...why haven't I yet?? :)
I love goldfish. I love books. I love this combination of goldfish and books. Fun and literary. And isn't that what I'm always trying to be? :) Thank you, Daily Candy, for turning me on to these. |
